Exploring motivation to engage in intraorganizational knowledge sharing: a mixed-methods approach

Purpose Intraorganizational knowledge and information sharing are important steps toward more-accessible organizational knowledge. The aim of this study is to qualitatively explore factors that contribute employees' motivations for sustaining intraorganizational knowledge-sharing behaviors examine the impact these in a quantitative with Austrian Federal Ministry Defense. This ministry faces retirement wave next 5–10 years. before, during, following will play decisive role organization near future. Design/methodology/approach An exploratory sequential mixed-methods was conducted. design involved qualitative phase expert interviews stakeholder workshops ( n = 9) based on cross-sectional online survey an implicit association test 59). Findings In phase, three main research topics regarding were identified: employee attitude, support, specific relational aspects transfer, such as reciprocal relationships among employees opportunities exchange. A hierarchical multiple regression analysis revealed perceived support only factor significant predictor motivation engaging sharing.
